Gearing up for the big 18/15!
Well, we are doing the 18/15m walk this weekend! We'll walk 18 miles on Friday & 15m on Saturday! Two Besties from H-town are coming in for the big weekend! So wish us luck! I'm sure we'll have pictures & stories afterwards!
ps - I haven't done a long walk in 3 weeks. I was on strike after I did too much relaxing in Mexico. I wonder if there will be an Alpaca along our route to pick me up if I can't make it. Like the Sweeps Van that we will have during the actual walk...a Sweeps Alpaca.
cheers - mo

the big fourteen
Today Stephanie and I walked 14 miles, although I think if you calculate our winding trail correctly, it was probably closer to sixteen or seventeen. I am not sure why but I had an incredibly difficult time on this walk. I was exhausted, in pain and walking on future blister "hot spots". I don't think it was quite as hot outside as some of our past walks and although we were going a longer distance I was aching very badly by the time we got back to our cars. Steph was a champ (as per usual) but I was grateful that she indulged in extra stretching with me and continued to talk to me to keep our energy up. It has been a full week since my last walk due to being ill, but I am still really surprised. I guess we all hit our highs and lows. Although my legs ache I still plan on walking tomorrow, though not as early in the morning. I'm hoping tomorrow evening to take a nice stroll to a local starbucks and back to rack up about 6 miles, nothing too extreme, just enough to keep my body moving. I hope that if I pick back up a more agressive training schedule I will not experience so much pain next time.
I hope everyone else's training is going well, is anyone using insoles? any words of advice when you are feeling extreme exhaustion?
